Monthly Goals Check-In: January 2018

MonthlyCheck-in

Trying to blog right now could be interesting as I’ve been locked in a tiny bathroom with only an exhaust fan and no openable window breathing primer fumes for the last three hours.

Let’s see how it goes, shall we?

In addition to all the scraping and sanding and painting, this month for Boho Barbie’s Dream Bathroom, I’ve also accomplished:

  • All of my scheduled blog posts.
  • Prepped 6 audio books
  • Updated a client’s website
  • Read 3 books
  • Started a short story submission that I’m really happy with
  • Updated my blog
  • Did some market research
  • Sorted through all my clothes and donated three kitchen garbage bags full
  • Mailed out all the packages that needed sending
  • Finished setting up my bullet journal for all of 2018
  • Made this Eliza Schuyler Hamilton dress for my niece

So, for next month, my goals are:

  • Complete all scheduled blog posts
  • Complete all scheduled audio preps
  • Complete all scheduled edits
  • Finish short story
  • Sort bedding
  • Bring donations to the donation place
  • Finish Boho Barbie’s Dream Bathroom
  • Get house cleaned before Jess comes

What do you want to accomplish in February? Be sure to check out the other bloggers and see what’s up with them!

Monthly Goals Check-In: April 2017

monthlycheck-in

Man… this has been a month. A long, weird, disquieting month.

Sadly, my mother-in-law died recently, so much of this month has been dealing with grief, and frustration, and anger at a certain family member on that side who needs to be throat punched. But that’s life.

Weirdly, I managed to accomplish quite a few things. This was my list.

Finish the client edits I have scheduled. (Yep. Scheduled 3. Edited 6.)

Complete all April blog posts. (Yep.)

Finish up work on 2 of the (now) 5 websites I’m working on. (Finished one, progress on two and waiting for client response on both.)

Knit 3.5 pussyhats (Yepper.)

Progress on new book and Mist & Stone. (Progress on new book. Zilch on Mist and Stone rewrite.)

Continue with the Organized Home Challenge (Yes and also no. We’re still cleaning and purging but not in order of the list.)

Finish sorting stuff for donation. (Still sorting. Still donating.)

Sew more journal covers and open Etsy site. (Nope.)

I also completed a bunch of things that weren’t on the list.

I proofed, reformatted, and reuploaded 6 of my books.

I did a podcast with Focus on Fantasy Romance about editing.

I updated my blog links.

I cleaned up my blog tags and categories.

I also read 6 books from my TBR pile.

All things considered, I did pretty well this month.

Okay, so…my goals for May are:

Revise and re-release at least one of my stories that I have the rights back on.

Progress on RP.

Progress on TFAD

Complete 7 client edits.

Complete all May blog posts.

Progress on 4 client websites.

Complete the 7 sewing projects I owe people.

Begin deconstructing and reconstructing wedding dress.

Read some more.

Be sure to see how the other bloggers did. Jess, Deelylah, Torrance, and Gwen.

Monthly Goals Check-In: March 2017

Welp…apparently, I was a little over ambitious in terms of what I thought I could get done this month. Well…that’s not exactly true. I did get a lot done. It’s just that most of the finished items weren’t the things I mentioned in last month’s blog.

Let’s review, shall we?.

This was my list:

Finish revising and expanding Mist and Stone. (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. No.)

Progress on DN & EP  (No to DN. What the fuck is EP?!)

Continue with that damn yoga program and exercise program. (GIant NOPE.)

Update Writing Bujo (Yes! Finally. Sheesh.)

Put together Publishing and Promo Bujo (Oh good, another yes!)

Knit 4 more pussyhats. (I knitted 6.5!)

Continue with whatever’s next on the Organized Home Challenge. (Kiiiinnnda. A couple didn’t apply to this house and I’m finishing up the last one.)

Finish at least two of the three websites. (Still waiting on info from two of the three, but made progress on them.)

Complete all client edits. (I completed the ones I knew about when I made these goals. I did get some extras tacked on at the end of the month.)

Complete all March blog posts. (Yep.)

In total, I edited six novels and a short story, (I’ve got 2.5 to go), I started a new book I’m super excited about, I finished a short story for the newsletter and Jess and I got the newsletter out, I knitted 6.5 pussyhats and I have 3.5 to go, I helped gut the upstairs, and collected a bunch of stuff for donation, together with Jess, I wrote 20(!) taglines, I did some formatting work, some sewing, developed a promo plan with Jess, and helped my mom with a nightmarish cleaning project.

Okay, so…for the month of April, I want to:

Finish the client edits I have scheduled.

Complete all April blog posts.

Finish up work on 2 of the (now) 5 websites I’m working on.

Knit 3.5 pussyhats

Progress on new book and Mist & Stone.

Continue with the Organized Home Challenge

Finish sorting stuff for donation.

Sew more journal covers and open Etsy site.

Okay, that’s probably enough for one month. Now, let’s go see how Jess and Deelylah did.

Monthly Goals Check-In: February 2017

monthlycheck-in

I can’t believe it’s the end of February. Though, I probably said that at the end of last month, too. Sigh.

Okay, so last month, I said that I wanted to:

Continue with whatever’s next on the Organized Home Challenge (Yep.)

Finish revising and expanding Mist and Stone. (Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.)

Progress on DN & EP (Nope.)

Finish 5 more pussyhats (I did!)

Progress on the other two websites I’m putting together. (Yep, and I added a third.)

Oh yeah, and start that damn yoga program. (I did it!)

And I edited several novels, worked on my annual writing plan did a massive amount of cleaning and sewing, and I’ve been happily hanging out with Jess Jarman for the last  eight days! And we’re gearing up for a mini writing retreat weekend. Oh, and I’ve developed an unhealthy washi tape addiction.

Oh! And I finished a bonus goal – organizing my bedroom and altering the quilt I bought that lied about fitting a king size bed.

So, for next month, my goals are:

Finish revising and expanding Mist and Stone.

Progress on DN & EP

Continue with that damn yoga program and exercise program.

Update Writing Bujo

Put together Publishing and Promo Bujo

Knit 4 more pussyhats.

Continue with whatever’s next on the Organized Home Challenge.

Finish at least two of the three websites.

Complete all client edits.

Complete all March blog posts.

Okay, that’s it for me. What are some of your goals? Be sure to check out the other bloggers’ posts, too! Jess, Deelylah, Gwen, and Torrance.

Monthly Goals Check-In: January 2017

I’ll be honest, I’ve been working my ass off, but I don’t feel like I’m really getting anywhere.

I’d planned to have short story finished, a book revised and expanded, and be at least a quarter of the way into a new novella. However, that’s not quite how things worked. An ugly case of anxiety and depression have pretty well immobilized me.

However, I have kicked ass at gutting my house and  getting rid of stuff. I still need to wash out the fridge, and take stock of the freezer, but then I’ll be done with the kitchen. I’m doing this 52 Week Organized Home Challenge. So far, so good. And in some areas, I’m working ahead – like my bedroom.

This is this month’s to-do list from my bullet journal. Things that are half-filled in are started, arrows mean they’re migrating to next month, and filled in means they’re done. Yeah…still hoping to start that yoga program by next Tuesday…

(Apologies for my hideous handwriting.)

But, I’ve been doing a lot of editing and some writing. Jess and I will have a new newsletter out next week, too. So if you want two new free short stories, sign up for the newsletter – they’re exclusive to newsletter subscribers only.

I’ve also been doing a lot of knitting. I made pussyhats for the Women’s March, and I’m still going. I think I’m on hat number nine. And a bunch made it to the marches in DC, Atlanta and Lansing.

Another thing I’ve accomplished this month is building a website for The Michigan Highlanders, the Highland Games organization my brother Martin belongs to. And if you want to follow them on Instagram and Tumblr, I’m sure they’d love that. (I would also love that. I’ve worked very hard on this – lol!) In case you’re wondering, my brother is the one who’s ripped the sleeves out of his shirts.

Okay, my goals for February are:

Continue with whatever’s next on the Organized Home Challenge

Finish revising and expanding Mist and Stone.

Progress on DN & EP

Finish 5 more pussyhats

Progress on the other two websites I’m putting together.

Oh yeah, and start that damn yoga program.

Be sure you check out the other bloggers check-ins! Jess, Deelylah, and Paige.
