The holidays at my house look a lot like this…calm, serene…quiet. But if you look closer…
Loki’s a little intense.
Willow’s trying to get a good view of god knows what since there’s a curtain over that window.
Kitsune’s just confused.
Morrighan would like everyone to leave her the hell alone so she can take a nap in her happy place.
And me? I’d just like the tree to stay upright.

Autumn, in Michigan, is stunningly gorgeous. And it’s my favorite season. Though, there are days that I’m not sure why, since every year, it actively attempts to murder me.
(All photos taken by me.)
Local apple orchard.
Farm near the orchard.
Reflections in the pond.
Faery gold on the water.
That weird autumn light.
Autumn roses in my mom’s garden.
Changing colors under an autumn sky.
Peering through the reeds at Merlin’s Place.
Homemade split pea soup.
The autumn survival kit: nebulizer, albuterol, inhaler, allergy pills, airborne, and Gypsy Cold Care tea. Oh, and Kitsune looking very concerned.

It’s another edition of Wordless Wednesday, and as usual, mine will probably have words.
There are some things that piss me right off about Michigan, but the landscape isn’t one of them. No matter the season, it’s almost always freaking gorgeous. Here are what some of my favorite spots look like in summer.
Northern shore of Lake Michigan. We had so much fun swimming in the waves.
Lake Superior in Gay, Michigan
Lake Superior in Eagle Harbor, Michigan
Lake Superior in Gay, Michigan
Lake Superior in Munising, Michigan
Lake Superior at Whitefish Point, Michigan
Sunset on South Manistique Lake in Curtis, Michigan
Floatie parking on South Manistique Lake in Curtis, Michigan
As you may have guessed, I really like being by (and in) the water. I try to spend as much time by the water as possible in the summer–as long as I have my SPF Vampire handy, that is.

When this posts, I’ll be blissfully in the middle of our annual writers retreat, but here are some of the photos I took this past week.
Loki at the top of the stairs.
Climbing roses in the backyard.
A faery and her flying cat – drawn by my son, Corwin.
My nephew and his baby, King Edward (though some insist it’s Tedward) Burps a Lot.
My husband and my niece have a mutual admiration society. And my mom has the ugliest (but comfiest) chairs known to man.
Wedding dress I made for my daycare kiddo who’s getting married next month.
Flower girl dress I made for the same wedding modeled by the flower girl’s most adorable body double.
My brother and my niece playing before he has to go to work.
My friend, Jonesie, and my niece have the same expression.
Okay, so that’s it from me this week. And be sure to check out
Kris, Jess, and Deelylah’s pics, too!
Things are only just now starting to get green in the area of Michigan where I live, but the flowers are finally blooming and soon my lilac bushes will be, too, and I’ll be in heaven. But for now, I have wood violets, grape hyacinths, regular hyacinths, daffodils, and the crab apple blossoms.
What’s is like where you are? Be sure to check out
Jess, Deelylah, and Kris‘ spring, too!
This winter has been weird, yo.
Normally, this is what winter in West Michigan looks like.
The back of my house.
However, this year, there’s some weird shit going on. We’ve even had 50 degree days in February. This is
not normal. This is what it looks like today.
I just went outside without a coat on to take this picture. It’s like spring out there.
